本校秉持「在地深耕、連結國際」的理念，透過研發創新、產學合作與智慧基礎設施建設，持續推動區域及全球的永續價值轉型。
每年定期發表《校園永續報告書》，由環境安全衛生中心統籌，並經第三方驗證，以確保資訊透明、公正與可信度。
在研究與創新方面，暨大設有研發處及產學與推廣教育營運中心，積極推動跨領域研究、技術研發與技術移轉。
學校鼓勵師生參與產學合作計畫，將學術成果實際應用於產業發展，協助在地企業提升技術能量與永續競爭力。
管理學院推動的「水沙連產業永續發展計畫」即是一項具體實踐，透過產業鏈結、跨域人才培育及國際合作機制，
協助學生依其專長發展，並促進與國際學生的學習交流，達到教育與產業雙贏。
暨大在大學社會責任（USR）領域的表現亦屢獲肯定，去年榮獲《天下雜誌》評選為「大型大學組第1名」，
展現校方長期投入地方創生與社會實踐的成效。2024年提出的5項USR計畫全數獲教育部審核通過，
包含3件萌芽型計畫、1件特色永續型及1件國際合作型。學校透過與周邊鄉鎮及原鄉部落的夥伴關係，
協助關注地方議題，如推動戶外教育學習生態系統、預防山難及水域安全教育，提升公民戶外教育素養，
並透過「水沙連未來教育行動聯盟」推動偏鄉教育師資培訓，持續提升教育品質與地方連結。
其中最具代表性的「綠色水沙連永續價值與人才培育升級計畫」已深耕地方六年，獲教育部譽為全國USR典範計畫。
該計畫不僅在埔里鎮推動「農業節電LED燈照射茭白筍田示範區」，以智慧節能技術協助農民減少能耗、提升產能，
更將永續行動延伸至國際，與柬埔寨合作推動水資源與環境衛生改善計畫，協助當地社區建立永續基礎設施與公共衛生系統，展現暨大跨國合作與社會影響力。
此外，暨大亦積極打造智慧校園（Smart Campus），推動太陽能電力系統、節能建築設計、智慧電網及智慧交通管理等工程，持續優化校園能源管理與基礎設施韌性，成為高教界永續轉型的示範典範，充分展現其在「創新」（Innovation）、「基礎設施」（Infrastructure）、「產業合作」（Industry Collaboration）、「研究與發展」（R&D）、「技術移轉」（Technology Transfer）及「智慧校園」（Smart Campus）等面向的深耕與領導力。
暨大將持續結合教育、研究與社會實踐的力量，強化在地連結與國際合作，推動永續產業與創新生態系發展，實現「地方行動、全球影響」的願景。
National Chi Nan University (NCNU) upholds the philosophy of “Rooted Locally, Connected Globally,” promoting sustainable value transformation at both regional and global levels through research and innovation, industry-academia collaboration, and smart infrastructure development. The university publishes an annual Campus Sustainability Report, coordinated by the Environmental Safety and Health Center and verified by a third-party organization, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and credibility of the information.
In the area of research and innovation, NCNU has established the Office of Research and the Industry-Academia Collaboration and Extension Center, actively promoting interdisciplinary research, technological development, and technology transfer. Faculty and students are encouraged to participate in industry-academia collaboration projects, applying academic results to real-world industrial development and helping local enterprises enhance technological capabilities and sustainable competitiveness. The “Shui-Sha-Lian Sustainable Industrial Development Program” led by the College of Management is a concrete example of this practice, linking industry chains, cultivating cross-domain talents, and fostering international collaboration, thereby supporting students’ professional growth and promoting learning exchanges with international students, achieving a dual benefit for education and industry.
NCNU’s performance in University Social Responsibility (USR) has also been widely recognized. Last year, the university was ranked first in the large university category by CommonWealth Magazine, highlighting its long-term commitment to local revitalization and social engagement. In 2024, all five USR projects submitted by the university were approved by the Ministry of Education, including three pilot projects, one featured sustainability project, and one international collaboration project. Through partnerships with surrounding townships and indigenous communities, the university addresses local issues, promotes outdoor education and ecological learning systems, enhances awareness of mountain and water safety, and improves citizens’ outdoor education literacy. Additionally, through the “Shui-Sha-Lian Future Education Action Alliance,” NCNU implements teacher training programs in rural areas to continuously enhance education quality and local engagement.
The flagship “Green Shui-Sha-Lian Sustainable Value and Talent Development Upgrade Program” has been deeply rooted in the region for six years and is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national USR model project. This program not only establishes a demonstration area in Puli Township for energy-saving LED lighting on water bamboo fields, helping farmers reduce energy consumption and increase production efficiency, but also extends its sustainable actions internationally by assisting Cambodia in water resource management and environmental sanitation improvements, helping local communities establish sustainable infrastructure and public health systems, demonstrating NCNU’s cross-border collaboration and societal impact.
Furthermore, NCNU actively builds a Smart Campus by implementing solar power systems, energy-efficient building designs, smart grids, and intelligent transportation management, continuously optimizing campus energy management and infrastructure resilience. These efforts exemplify the university’s leadership and dedication in the areas of Innovation, Infrastructure, Industry Collaboration, Research and Development (R&D), Technology Transfer, and Smart Campus development. NCNU will continue to integrate education, research, and social practice, strengthen local and international connections, promote sustainable industry, and develop innovative ecosystems to achieve the vision of “Local Action, Global Impact.”
